Alan McKenna has run a restaurant at the theatre since 1996. There’s not a thing he doesn’t know about making your visit a show-stopper.

About McKenna’s

McKenna’s at Northern Stage offers good, honest locally sourced food in a friendly and relaxed restaurant and bistro, with a sprinkling of Northern charm.

We have something for everyone – from lunches, to a 2 or 3 course dinner in the bistro to pre-theatre tapas and our classic burgers or just drinks at McKenna’s bar. Since we opened in 2006 we’ve catered for hundreds of events and launches from weddings to awards ceremonies.

As a family-run business, we have a strong team of chefs including our Head Chef John Davison, waiting and bar staff and of course, owner and chief bottle-washer Alan McKenna.

Alan is hands-on and passionate about good food and always aspires to make your visit to McKenna’s a memorable one.
